business model is one of our core values. We support environmentally sound
agricultural practices, like shade coffee growing and organic coffee production
techniques. We are working hard to combine our love of specialty coffees
with a deep respect for the environment. The greatest coffees are grown
in rich, organic soil, shaded by indigenous forest, and harvested by skilled
craftspeople who are deeply connected with traditional farming techniques.
Sustainability doesn’t stop there, however. Specialty coffees require
a tremendous amount of skilled attention to achieve greatness, and the men
and women who produce these coffees deserve to be compensated well for their
efforts. We are committed to paying fair prices for every coffee we source,
and finding innovative ways to support and reward the production of really
great coffees.
We love the coffee industry, and are dedicated to supporting its stability
by being responsible in our buying practices. Great coffee never comes cheaply,
and we are committed to exercising and supporting fiscal sustainability
throughout the chain of coffee. At the end of the day, we love great coffee
and want to ensure that it will always be available to us and to future
generations. This is what sustainability in coffee means to us.
