Yes, Shade Tree Coffee is owned and operated by North Carolina native and Durham resident Greg Lamm and his wife Stephanie.
What’s up with your macchiato?
In Italian, the term ‘macchiato’ is used to describe a ‘mark’ or ‘stain’. In keeping with the history and practice of this idea, our macchiato is built in the Italian tradition which is a single shot of espresso ‘marked’ with a dollop of foamed milk. If you’re searching for something a little more ‘American’ we think you’ll be very happy with one of our latte’s or mocha’s.
Do you ever host live music or other events?
Yes, we are in the process of developing an open mic night and would love to begin featuring local musicians beginning this summer. If you are interested in performing here please contact us via the feedback page. We also desire to be active in the community both locally and in support of others in the coffee industry world wide. We most recently partnered with the The Society for International Development in putting together a fundraiser for victim’s of the recent Tsunami in Aceh, Sumatra.
